November 26, 2012

Thanks to all who attended the Block Captain/Board Meeting Wednesday, November 7,  2012.

Items of topic were:

Review of the bylaws and responsibilities of Block Captains (BC):
Including delivering information (newsletters, fliers) to ALL residents, regardless of whether they are renters or homeowners (Per By-laws, ‘any owner of property in &/or resident of the community shall be eligible for membership in this association.’) Something to consider in the future would be a system to send information to the homeowner who is renting their house also.

Block Captains being CCCA members ‘in good standing’ themselves, as we have ~4 BC’s who are not.
(At the general meeting Nov 15, 2012 Ann Collier agreed to take over Block Captain duties for Upper Littlewood.)

Block Captains are the link between community residents and the Officers of the Board — ANY new residents/neighbor’s, important events WE need you to relay information —PERSONALLY ‘meet and greet’ new neighbors — give them the latest newsletter/flier, refer them to the website, inform them of the upcoming holiday party Saturday, the next general meeting (now February 21, 2013),  WE would like to re-start the Welcoming Committee, we want to get the COPS program up and running and NEED volunteers.
(We need to educate & inform residents to be proactive, not reactive — if they see anything suspicious, call 911  — for us to get more COP signs/poles, monies the CCCA needs to file for a grant (deadline Dec 14); however, we need to SHOW that we have an on-going and active COPS program.

Block Captains REPRESENT their ‘block’  — IF you are unable to deliver fliers/newsletters in a timely manner, PLEASE ask for help, let us know. With the upcoming holiday, we are requesting that you decorate ONE of the poles on your block IN whatever HOLIDAY decoration you choose, Kwanzaa, Jewish theme, Islam, traditional. (ALSO if anyone has extra garland, red bows they no longer need, please consider donating to the Association. ) The Officers can help with decorating also — just let us know where, what poles need attention.

THE PURPOSE/GOAL OF OUR ASSOCIATION IS TO ‘ORGANIZE & OPERATE A COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION FOR COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT AND PROTECTION, BETTER FELLOWSHIP, AND A STIMULATION OF INTEREST IN A HIGH DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF LIVING CONDITIONS IN THE COMMUNITY.’

Fliers need to be completed for the Holiday party and will hopefully be able to be distributed this weekend.  —  As of this moment Santa is tentative as he recently had a stroke  — IF anyone else has any leads on a ‘fill-in’ please let Sharon know.  The party is Saturday,  December 8th, with John/Brenda Scott catering; however there is a sign up for appetizers, desserts, activities, set-up, decorations, etc.  If you &/or you know others that willing to help/volunteer, please contact John/Brenda via email @ benson6@comcast.net &/or 410-665-0653.

Information should be going out soon from the lawyers, developers regarding the Rushley development.  We are trying to plan for a special meeting the week of December 2, 2012.  We will keep you informed.

Oct 1, 2012 Tree-Mendous Maryland – Each spring and fall, the Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) promotes Maryland’s Tree-Mendous MD Program that offers reasonably priced trees for planting on public lands, including parks, public schools and community colleges, government facilities, rights-of-way and homeowner association open spaces. EPS provides free tree delivery for community orders of 10 or more trees. Free delivery is not available for trees on the ‘specials’ list.

Ongoing: Rushley Road Project
A developer, Craftsmen Developers LLC, has a contract to purchase what we know as the Callahan Property.  Craftsmen submiyyed a concept plan to Baltimore County and had a Concept Plan conference on their plan on May 10, 2011.  Homeowners adjacent to the property received a large package from the developer’s engineer with the concept plan, their version of “site constraints” and a package of Baltimore County agenies’ comments on the concept plan along with a notice of a Community Input Meeting (CIM) at The Towson branch Baltimore County Library.  This meeting was on June 8, 2011 and was attended by about 100 people.
Go to Documents page to see items related to this proposal: the developer’s “site constraints”, the developer’s proposal for 36 houses, the Minutes of the CIM (Community Input Meeting) prepared by Baltimore County, the letter sent by the CCCA in response to the developer’s proposal.
